Vivica A. Fox portrays first Black woman POTUS

After her reprising her role as Jasmine Dubrow-Hiller this summer in Independence Day: Resurgence, Vivica A. Fox is making yet another appearance on the silver screen. However, this time around, it’s one that will make cinematic history.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, Fox will become the first black woman to play POTUS in the forthcoming film Crossbreed. The film’s plot involves a group of “retired military officials” sent on a mission to “retrieve an extraterrestrial being from an illegal Medical Facility using its DNA to manufacture weapons.”

Director Brandon Slagle spoke on why the seasoned actress was the perfect person for the job, saying, “When my producers brought up the idea of Vivica in the role it was a lightning bolt. It was a fantastic idea.” “Someone who could light up a room but also has a commanding presence. Our President is positive and proactive, not the grim figure as is usually portrayed in these types of movies,” he continued.

Earlier this week, Fox took to Instagram to share the exciting news about her new role: ” Wowzers! I’m so excited and honored to share with you all the news that I will be playing the President of the United States in the upcoming film #Crossbreed. It’s the first time in a film an African American female has been selected to play POTUS!”

Congrats, Vivica!
