Carl Wunsche Sr. High School in Spring ISD will celebrate its 10th Anniversary at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 8. Community members, parents, former principals and alumni will celebrate the school’s history and honor the legacy of its namesake Carl Wunsche Sr.

The Wunsche family donated 13 acres to Spring ISD in 1937 for a new school, with the stipulation that it be named for their ancestor, Carl Wunsche Sr. In 1939, it was the first school constructed after Spring ISD was formed in 1935. In August 2006, the current 273,000-square-foot building opened on the site, replacing the older building with not only a new school, but also an innovative approach to college and career readiness.

The anniversary program will include remarks from the Spring ISD Board of Trustees and Superintendent Dr. Rodney E. Watson, as well as former Miss Wunsche Kiara Davis, students, alumni and principals. In addition, students will showcase the skills they have learned as part of their Wunsche experience. The event will be followed by a reception.
