The TSU College of Liberal Arts and Behavioral Sciences (COLABS) hosted the 2017 John T. Biggers / Carroll Harris Simms Symposium. Under the banner of “Art as Activism,” the symposium that highlights art from the African diaspora, featured a keynote address by artist Vicki Meek and presentations by TSU art students Chanise Epps, Shelton Brown, Jose Martinez Jr., Carlton Banks, Maurice Jenkins, Darlise Goodlow and Michael Thomas. COLABS Interim Dean Dr. Merline Pitre provided words of welcome, Sister Mama Sonya offered a poetic transcript, and Dr. Alvia Wardlaw moderated the panel discussion.
