Members of Houston’s activist, martial arts, and cultural communities came together recently to celebrate the life of Houston legend and director of SEHAH Youth Center, Mwalimu Baba Shango who died on June 21. Shango was an active part of the growth of SHAPE Community Center for years before founding SEHAH in 1991. Besides running year-round programs and summer camps, he took youth on educational trips to countless African and South American countries. Attendees included Ojo Shango, Sundiata Shango, Nzinga Shango, Minister Robert Muhammad, Kofi Taharka, Deloyd Parker, Aban Shango, Dr. Holland Jones, Mother Dember, Swatara Olushola, Sentwali Olushola and a host of others.
