The Community Music Center of Houston recently held its Annual Musical Tribute to Martin Luther King, Jr. at St. Mary’s United Methodist Church. The program featured the Scott Joplin Chamber Orchestra and St. Mary’s Choir. With music director Dr. Anne Lundy, the orchestra and choir performed musical tributes to jazz classics and executed a new piece layered with quotes from some of MLK’s famous speeches. In attendance were CMCH Co-founder Ron Scales, National Black United Front Chairman Kofi Taharka, Busi Peters-Maughar, Dr. Bill Hancock, Travis McGee, Elizabeth Watkins, Dr. Regenia Hicks, Sondera Malry, Dr. Xyna Bell and many more.
