The Emancipation Park Conservancy and Houston Play on Purpose hosted the play “In All Thy Getting: The Forgotten Story of Freedmen’s Town,” a production chronicling the rise and fall of the largest ex-slave settlement in the nation, Freedmen’s Town, enlightening Houstonians about this rich, yet forgotten history. Written by Houston playwright Holly Charles, the play and its opening reception kicked off the 147th Annual Juneteenth Celebration. Attendees included Lucy Bremond, Iris Garcia, Ramon Manning, Hellena Stokes, Loretta Hubbard Green, Pastor Marilyn White, Pastor Linda Davis, Trustee Wanda Adams, Donna Franklin, Juantia Jackson, Patrina Johnson, Iman Garrett-Price, Annette Bracey, Gordon Anderson and many more.
