One of the most historically significant cultural institutions in Houston’s Fifth Ward community, the Julia C. Hester House, recently celebrated its 75th anniversary with a community jubilee festival.  In honor of the milestone, Discovery Green partnered with Hester House to offer a performance by the world-renowned Cirque Zuma Zuma – a family-friendly, high-energy show with pulsing African music performed by young acrobats from African nations. Hester House director Daisy Stiner and Discover Green director Barry Mandel welcomed an enthusiastic crowd that enjoyed artwork and performances, food and fellowship. Attendees included Dorothy Turner Steele, Tia Bonham, Raegen Porter, Robin Porter, Ana Yanez Correa, Dorothy Edwards, Ronnie Jackson, deputies Leo Zerangue and Jovanna Thomas, and many more.
