Texas Southern University President Austin Lane and First Lady Loren Lane recently hosted TSU’s 2nd Annual Maroon & Gray Affair, the school’s signature fundraising event. Held at the Marriot Marquis Downtown, the event sought to raise over $1 million for student scholarships. Deborah Duncan (KHOU) and TSU alum Billy Sorrells served as MCs, while noted journalist and Texas native Tamron Hall served as keynote speaker. Two TSU students, Aaron Dallas II and Camille Mills were recognized for their academic and civic accomplishments. Two alumni, Commissioner Rodney Ellis and State Rep. Senfronia Thompson, were honored, as well. En Vogue provided live entertainment for attendees, including U.S. representatives Sheila Jackson Lee and Al Green, Larry Williams, Andrea Breaux, Mathew Knowles, Gerald Smith, Anita Smith, Jolanda Jones, and many more.
