Valerie Jarrett, the longest-serving senior advisor in the Obama White House and long-time friend of the First Family, came to Houston recently as part of her national tour promoting her book, “Finding My Voice.” A packed house at the Houston Public Library’s Julia Ideson Building greeted Jarrett as she shared her journey as a daughter, mother, lawyer, business leader, and leader in government during the historic Obama administration. Attendees included Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee, Dr. Rhea Lawson, Paula Giddings, Alison Leland, Gregory Campbell, Carl Davis, Naomi Crawford, Marjorie Gonzalez, Eureka Gilkey, Janice Ford Griffin, Betty Lockhart, Gayle Gardner and many more.
