The closing ceremony of the Verizon Summer STEM Program was held recently at Texas Southern University’s H&PE Arena. The three-week program exposed over 100 middle school minority males to lectures and experiences in science, technology, engineering and math with the hope of preparing them for future tech careers. Participants enjoyed hands-on learning experiences in next-gen technologies like robotics, augmented reality and 3D printing; entrepreneurship training; and college-aged mentors. Attendees at the closing event included program director LaRence Snowden, Johaf Amir Chowdhury, Jeff Lindsey, Grant Eason, Valencia Fletcher, Landon Harvey, Carmella and Evan Blackshear, Jaylen Walker, Sonya Davis and many more.
