Whether we like it or not, we live in a nostalgic entertainment era where reboots and remakes reign supreme—and now one of the most iconic franchises is getting updated once again. It was recently announced that Black Panther star Lupita Nyong’o is set to lead the cast of the upcoming Charlie’s Angels reboot.

As reported by Popsugar, the final cast for the reboot of the popular early 2000’s film franchise Charlie’s Angels has been announced and joining Lupita Nyong’o are actresses Kristin Stewart and Naomi Scott. Still in its early stages, there is no word yet on who each actress would play or what the film’s plot will be.

However, the film will be full of girl power because actress/director Elizabeth Banks is onboard to not only direct the film reboot, but she’s also one of its producers. If you recall the first round of Charlie’s Angels films, released in 2000 and 2003 respectively, starred Drew Barrymore, Cameron Diaz and Lucy Lui as the butt-kicking trio. Those movies of course, were based on the legendary 1970s TV show of the same name.

Nyong’o is coming off a spectacular year so far, thanks to the astounding success of Black Pantherand there have also been talks of an all-female led spinoff of the film’s characters. In the meantime, you can definitely expect to see her return in the highly anticipated Black Panther sequel.

The Charlie’s Angels reboot is slated to hit theaters on June 7, 2019.
