H-E-B to add 900 jobs in Houston

H-E-B plans to fill more than 900 jobs in Houston to keep up with growth in its stores, Favor delivery and curbside pickup programs.

The openings include store leadership and management positions, as well as part-time and entry level jobs. The San Antonio-based grocer recently boosted minimum pay to $9.50 per hour for baggers and $11.50 per hour for checkers. Eligible employees receive benefits, store discounts, paid time off, and retirement savings plans and scholarship opportunities.

“With the recent acquisition of Favor delivery, expansion of curbside pickup and omnichannel growth, H-E-B is a forward-thinking, community-focused retailer with much to offer,” said  H-E-B Houston senior vice president Armando Perez said in an announcement.

H-E-B has more than 80 stores in the Houston area under the H-E-B, Joe V’s, Central Market and Mi Tienda names. The grocer is preparing to open two-level store in Bellaire.
