During the first Conversations and Coffee event, Defender Publisher and CEO Sonceria “Sonny” Messiah Jiles interviewed Houston Independent School District Superintendent Richard Carranza. The event sponsored by Kelsey-Seybold Clinic and hosted in their main campus rotunda welcomed community members to submit some of the interview questions. In addition, Kelsey-Seybold Clinic provided blood pressure testing and each attendee received a Defender coffee mug.
