A teen was arrested Thursday in connection with the drive-by shooting death of an 8-year-old in southeast Houston, police said.
Devonte Lockett, 17, is charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in connection with the shooting, Houston Police Chief Art Acevedo announced Thursday night.
A drive-by shooter opened fire on a car parked in a shopping center parking lot March 1 in the 3900 block of Scott Street. Tristian Hutchins, 8, and 5-year-old Kheristian Hutchins were in the car along with another child.
Tristian was shot in the head and rushed to the hospital, where he died weeks later on March 28. Houston Police Department homicide detectives have been searching for a suspect ever since the shooting. Kheristian also suffered a gunshot wound to the leg.
