Let’s not pretend we haven’t heard it or even thought it: Why even bother to vote for President in Texas as Black people?

It’s not like our vote will ever count in this state where Republicans have a stranglehold on Texas and the most visible political positions. But is that the wrong way to view your vote?

The Defender panel weighs in on this very important topic in our latest Roundtable discussion as the too-close-to-call race for the White House and the presidency between Democratic nominee Kamala Harris and Republican candidate Donald Trump nears the finish line.

Swing states like Pennsylvania, Michigan, Wisconsin, Arizona, Georgia and Nevada may the biggest say in wins, while states like Texas and California figure to fall in line as strongholds for either party. But voters in Texas should still make sure their voices are heard and no that their influence can still be heard in state races like the one involving Colin Allred and Ted Cruz for the Senate seat.
