The new school year is right around the corner.

Whether you are a student, parent or teacher, the back-to-school season can sneak up on you fast.

Here are five things to keep top of mind so you are ready to hit the ground running when the bell rings!

1. Get your routine back on track

Summer nights might mean late bedtimes and slow mornings, but school demands an earlier start. About two weeks before school begins, start shifting sleep schedules back to normal. It will save everyone from that first-day shock.

2. Take stock of supplies and budget wisely

From pencils to laptops, make a checklist of what you actually need. Compare what you already have versus what needs replacing. That way, you will avoid duplicate buys and save your wallet from the back-to-school sales frenzy.

3. Talk through goals and expectations

Whether it’s you, your kid, or your students, setting intentions for the year helps. Discuss academic goals, social hopes, or even personal growth targets. A little planning now can motivate you all year long.

4. Plan your transportation strategy

Whether it is bus schedules, carpool rotations, or bike routes, figure it out ahead of time. Practice runs can iron out the kinks, reduce first-day stress and even reveal new, more efficient paths to school.

5. Check in on mental health
