According to his wife, Pastor Suzette Caldwell, Houston megachurch pastor Kirbyjon Caldwell has been released from prison. In a Facebook post shared by Windsor Village United Methodist Church, she confirmed that Caldwell remains under house arrest.

Caldwell pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit wire fraud in March 2020 and received a six-year federal prison sentence in January 2021. As the former senior pastor and founder of Windsor Village, Caldwell is accused of taking part in fraudulent investments involving historical Chinese bonds issued by the former Republic of China before its fall to the Communist government in 1949. These bonds, no longer recognized by China’s current government, are worthless as investments.

Caldwell’s co-defendant, Shreveport investment adviser Gregory A. Smith, pleaded guilty to the same charge in 2019.
