This week we’ve seemingly been preparing for all year.
It’s Christmas time.
For many of us, the last couple of months have been spent scrambling to find the perfect gifts for our loved ones. We hope our loved ones have put as much thought into what we will unwrap on Christmas Eve or Christmas morning, depending on your family tradition.
Christmas among Black families has seemingly drifted from its original intent which is to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ and family. It’s now become more about the biggest, best and most expensive gifts. The commercialization of the holiday has seemed to take the soul out of the Black Christmas.
But for many, the Texans Will Anderson Jr. and Danielle Hunter and the Rockets Tari Eason, the Holiday is still about family.
In our latest episode, the Defender Roundtable panel discusses the commercialization of Christmas and whether the holiday has lost its soul in the Black family.
