Stacey Dash has officially filed the paperwork to run for Congress in California.

The Clueless star is running under the slogan “Dash to DC” for the seat currently occupied by Rep. Nanette Barragán. California’s 44th Congressional District has been a Democratic district since 2012 and includes North Long Beach and Compton, according to The Hill.

“A number of people online and off have suggested I run for political office,” she wrote. “I wanted to see what my online community thinks of this idea as I mull the possibilities. Thoughts?”

While many people derided the idea, others seemed to be excited by it.

“You are intelligent and articulate. You are brave. GO FOR IT, GIRL!” tweeted a fan who goes by the handle @PaintingPastor.

“Please run for office!” begged @CharityLove08. “I am a conservative I am female I am Latina & I am a mother but most importantly I am a proud American. We need more representation in this country. Please take on that role for us. Show the world its possible to be a Woman of color with morals & modesty.”

A traditionally Democratic district

But the internet is one thing. The real question is whether Dash could make it in an actual election.

Considering the fact that the district she’s running in voted overwhelmingly for Hillary Clinton during the 2016 election, this is going to be a hard, if not impossible, sell for Dash. After all, she was a Fox News contributor for a while until 2016. She didn’t get a renewed contract following a segment in which she cursed while discussing President Barack Obamaand his attitude toward the War on Terror.

“I didn’t feel any passion from him,” she said at the time. “I feel like he could give a shit, excuse me, he could care less.”
