Edward L. Blackshear Elementary recently hosted its 100th Year Gala at the Buffalo Soldiers Museum, celebrating a 100 year legacy. Guests were treated to a meet and greet gospel fest with Myisha Tate, door prizes, a jazz performance by Abdurraoof Abdullah and a live performance by Brandalyn Hare, Bennie Thomas III, Carlan White and Rhonda Eaglin. The keynote speaker for the evening was Dr. Elwyn C. Lee. Proceeds from the gala benefit the needs of scholars with uniforms, supplies, field lessons and more. In attendance were Blackshear Elementary Principal Alicia Lewis, Jolanda Jones, Assistant Principal Yaneka Walker, Elneita Hutchins-Taylor, Flossie Norman, Gloria Mundine and a host of others.
