UNCF hosted its 20th Annual Houston Youth Gala at the Bayou City Event Center. Each year in January, high school students from the Greater Houston and surrounding areas come together to raise funds for education. Over 1,000 students attended the event. UNCF is the nation’s largest private scholarship provider to minority group members. Each year, the organizations awards over $100 million in scholarships to students across the country. In fact, a $5,000 local scholarship will be named in honor of the gala’s organizer Hariette Street. In attendance were UNCF chair Pat Pellerin, Miss Houston Chandler Foremen, Chase Hubbard, Blake Lanier, Kayelyn Summerville, Jared Cyprian, Alexandria DeWalt, Christian Jones, Jeff Shaw and many more.
