Students at Miami Senior High School in Florida and the University of Miami were thrilled when Drake showed up at their schools for a music video shoot.
On Monday, Drake showed up with a crane at the high school’s baseball field to film the video for “God’s Plan.” He also had a drone so he could capture the full overhead effect.
Students who saw the superstar went wild, sharing pictures on social media and generally freaking out.
It’s probably hard to focus on math problems when Drake is out there filming, right?
Drake brings the party (and the money)
And of course, Drake didn’t leave the schools uncompensated. To show his gratitude for the use of the campus, he left them with a few donations.
For Miami Senior High School, Drake wrote a $25,000 check and also promised to “design new school uniforms,” according to the Miami Herald.
And at the University of Miami, he surprised biology major Destiny James with a $50,000 scholarship and then performed at the Moss Terrace in the Donna E. Shalala Student Center.
The Miami Hurricane also reported that Drake had plenty of nice things to say about the school, including the fact that the kids there knew how to get a party started.
“I’ll tell you one thing,” Drake said at the end of his performance. “I’ve been to a lot of places in the world. I don’t think I’ve ever been to a more turnt school than this. I wish you all the best in life, a lot of love, a lot of happiness for you, your friends and your family.”
How awesome would it be to go to school and find out that Drake was set to come there too? These are some lucky kids.
