The Boys and Girls Club of Greater Houston is providing a safe haven for Houston’s children ages 6-17 in time of need.
The Boys & Girls Club of Greater Houston has opened five Club locations throughout the Greater Houston area as of Sept 1. BGCGH is wanting to provide relief for families, stability for youth and teens, and care for communities recovering from Hurricane Harvey. Membership fees are just $5 for the entire school year for children and teens ages 6-17. BGCGH provides warm meals and snacks for every child and teen. Clubs are run by well-trained staff and volunteers.
The five locations include:
- Allen Parkway Club (815 Crosby Street Houston, TX 77019)
- John & Cissy Havard Club (1520 Airline Road Houston, TX 77009)
- Holthouse Club (2411 Canal Street Houston, TX 77003)
- Jim & Barbara Morefield Club (5950 Selinsky Road Houston, TX 77048)
- Spring Branch Club (8575 Pitner Road Houston, TX 77080)
“By opening our doors to youth and teens who need us most right now, we are giving parents and families the time they need to begin the process of rebuilding their lives. Our hope is that Houston’s children can find joy, safety and fun at our Clubs during this time of tragedy,” Kevin Hattery, President & CEO of Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Houston said. “We will do what it takes to make sure our Club members are adequately cared for at this time – including extending our hours, staffing and volunteers, and overall responsibilities. Our Clubs are a very bright light in Houston’s most-in-need communities, and we are here for our children and families during the recovery process.”
BGCGH’s goal is to open all Clubs for extended day hours in alignment with the school district schedule to accommodate needs for families (9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.) until school returns in session and then return to our normal after school hours.
