WHAT:
The Houston Super Bowl Host Committee and The Mayor’s Office of Special Events are partnering to share the excitement of the Super Bowl with Touchdown Tour community events across the city. All Touchdown Tour events are free and open to the public, and will be held on select Saturdays through January 14, 2017. This Saturday, November 12, the Touchdown Tour will visit Finnigan Park. Mayor Turner will be in attendance to address guests at 12:00 p.m. Houston Texans Cheerleaders will also be in attendance to pump up the spirit! Attendees will enjoy live entertainment by R&B and Top 40 band, Hybrid 7, “neighborhood tailgating” complete with food and beverages, games and other special guest appearances to promote fun and healthy community activities.
“Lead On,” the Houston Super Bowl Host Committee’s health and wellness Legacy Initiative, will kick off at John Marshall Middle School on Friday, November 11. Local celebrities and special guests including retired NFL player, Ellis Wyms (Tampa Bay Buccaneers), will be playing flag football with students to encourage students to participate in 60 minutes of physical activity each day. Media must check in at the John Marshall Middle School administrative office upon arrival.
“Read On,” the Houston Super Bowl Host Committee’s early literacy Legacy Initiative, will be in the community at Nathaniel Q. Henderson Elementary School on Friday, November 11. Local celebrities and special guests including retired NFL players, J.J. Moses (Houston Texans) and Sammy Davis (San Diego Chargers), will be in attendance to promote a culture of literacy through book readings to students. Media must check in at the Nathaniel Q. Henderson Elementary School administrative office upon arrival.
