Jamie Foxx, who won an Oscar for his portrayal of Ray Charles, is now tackling the life of another musical icon, Marvin Gaye.
The star is set to executive produce a limited series about Gaye with de Passe Jones Entertainmentโs Suzanne de Passe and Madison Jones.
โIโve been a huge fan my whole life. His brilliance in music unparalleled,โ Foxx said. โMarvin Gayeโs story has always fascinated me.โ
โWeโve been involved in a number of attempts to get this done, and now that weโve been able to marshal all the forces, and Jamieโs come on board as a partner, weโre excited to get going,โ de Passe said of the project.
โThis has been a labor of love for three decades,โ said Jones. โItโs been brewing for a while.โ
โThis project will be a powerful and definitive telling of Marvin Gayeโs life story,โ said the singerโs son Marvin Gaye III, who will also be an executive producer for the project.
Motown founder Berry Gordy has also endorsed the project, saying, โMarvin was the truest artist I have ever known. I am confident that this is the right team to bring his story to the audience in an authentic and compelling way.โ
