Kevin Hart is no stranger to breaking down barriers in a way that few comedians have before him. He recently added โauthorโ to his list of professions with the release of his book, I Canโt Make This Up, a memoir composed of life lessons based on his successes and failures. Heโs made a mark on the fitness industry recently releasing the โFree Train Instinct Hartโ cross trainer sneaker, a collaboration with athletics titan Nike. In addition, the Philadelphia born and bred comedian has hosted a series of spontaneous 5K runs across the country. In 2015 he became first comedian to ever headline a stadium show, performing at his hometownโs Lincoln Financial Field. In addition to being in just about every other movie that has been released in the past two years, Hart will also star in the Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, the long-awaited second installment to the animal action movie made popular by the late Robin Williams. You also may have caught his โWhat Now?โ mixtape in which he released a few singles under his rap alter-ego, โChocolate Droppaโ. Oh and letโs not forget heโs preparing to become a father for the third time as he and wife Eniko Parrish are expecting a boy later this year.
The comedian is once again proving that the hustle never stops. Ebony magazine reports that on August 3rd, Hart will launch his very own streaming video platform, Laugh Out Loud. Hart hand-picked contemporary and creative voices of today to create original content for the network. In addition, Laugh Out Loud (LOL) will feature original scripted and unscripted comedy series, stand-up specials, licensed programming including Def Comedy Jam reruns and live broadcasts.
With the network, Hart says he aims to continue bringing the world together through comedy:
โFunny has no color or gender.โ
โWith our friends at Lionsgate, we are creating a global network that gives a platform to the next generation of diverse comedians from all over the world, of all ethnicities, to tell their stories. Our culture of comedy is unfiltered and inclusive. Most importantly, we exist to make the world laugh.โ
Original content will include, โKevin Hart: Lyft Legendโ a series in which the comedian transforms into Donald Mac, an elderly Lyft driver with a tendency to overshare to his passengers on some pretty awkward adventures. Thereโs also โDead Houseโ from Andrew Bachelor (better known to his Vine fans as King Bach), a scripted comedy where four zombies live and work together until their world is turned upside down by a human cast member.
If one thing is for sure, Kevin Hart is pretty prepared to not just bring the world together, but possibly take it over one punchline at a time. The Laugh Out Loud app launches on i0S and Android for free on Aug 3. Users will also have the option to upgrade for $2.99 per month for ads free viewing.
