Several Cleveland Cavaliers players, including LeBron James, are refusing to stay at the Trump Hotel in New York City, part of a trend among several NBA teams since Donald Trump was elected president in November.
The Cavaliers have excused those players who have noted that they donโt want to stay in hotels owned by the president-elect because of divisive and racist comments made during his campaign, ESPN reports.
The Cavs, who are in New York to take on the Knicks on Wednesday, were booked to stay at the Trump SoHo in Manhattan. Some players have elected not to stay at the luxury hotel. Three teamsโthe Milwaukee Bucks, Memphis Grizzlies and Dallas Mavericksโannounced shortly after Trumpโs win that their players would not be staying in Trump-branded hotels.
