“It is increasingly difficult to find the words to express what I am feeling these days. Last night I attended a vigil in remembrance of those killed in the attack on Nice.
A week ago we mourned the shooting of police in Dallas. Before that we had Orlando and the violence in other cities at home and abroad. Today, I pray for Baton Rouge and the families of the officers shot there.
There have been too many senseless acts over the past couple of months. This cannot become our new normal.
I know tensions remain high but I ask that everyone lower their temperature as we search for a way forward. We have to come together because no one wins when there is violence. Once again, I have directed that city hall be lit blue to show that we continue to stand with law enforcement.”
