Damond Wiggins came into the 2017 high school football season with high expectations.
“One of my goals was to rush for 2,000 yards,” said the North Forest High School senior running back. “So far I’ve been able to get at least 100 yards in each one of our games.”
North Forest improved to 4-0 on the season with a 42-0 victory over Booker T. Washington at Barnett Stadium last week. Wiggins rushed for 193 yards on 13 carries and had touchdown runs of 5, 5 and 80 yards in the Bulldogs’ conquest.
“We’re looking forward to playing Yates this week and doing the same thing to them,” Wiggins said.
Yates and North Forest will play Friday, Oct. 20th at Barnett Stadium in a matchup of unbeaten District 11-4A Division I powerhouses at 7 p.m. The winner will be in sole possession of first place.
Wiggins likes his role of being the go-to guy on a good team.
“I’m a four-year letterman on varsity and I’m looking forward to playing one of our best games of the year,” said Wiggins, who enjoys watching NFL players Odell Beckham and Eziekel Elliott. “We look forward to the challenge.”
Other key North Forest weapons include quarterback Kevion Cornett, receiver Demond Demas and the versatile Aleric Manuel under first-year head coach Clifton Terrell.
