As the Biden campaign looks to shore up support among Black voters ahead of the 2024 election, Vice President Kamala Harris is taking a leading role in highlighting the administration’s economic efforts and outreach.

On Monday, Harris was joined by Congressional Black Caucus chairman Rep. Steven Horsford as she spoke with Black business owners and entrepreneurs about their endeavors and the White House’s initiatives.

“This is an important time for all of America, but particularly Black America when it comes to our economic opportunities. Polls may say one thing today, but I know the record of the Biden-Harris administration, I know the work that we’ve done as Democrats in Congress by putting people over politics, and I know that in the end of this the American people will elect decency over chaos.”

The targeted outreach comes as CBS News polling shows the administration’s support has dipped around 11 points among Black voters since 2020 – a key demographic the campaign is aiming to solidify.

However, Horsford, a Nevada Democrat, expressed confidence, stating, “Polls may say one thing today, but I know the record of the Biden-Harris administration…and I know that in the end the American people will elect decency over chaos.”

Horsford praised Harris’s ability to resonate given her unique position as the first woman of color to be vice president. “She is someone who understands the challenges that all Americans but again, particularly Black Americans, face in this unique time,” he said.

In recent months, Harris has taken a prominent role in battleground states like Nevada, stepping up appearances and leading outreach efforts on issues like abortion access and reproductive rights.

Horsford highlighted Harris’s economic opportunity tour, saying, “I’m in my district constantly listening to voters and what they tell me is…they want people who are elected who are going to make sure that they are laser focused on reducing costs, on making our community safer, on creating more opportunity. And that’s what Vice President Harris and this tour…is all about.”

As Biden seeks reelection, the campaign is leveraging Harris’s unique position to rally Black voters around the administration’s policy agenda and achievements in areas of key concern.
