CenterPoint Unveils New Power Restoration Map for Houston Area
CenterPoint Energy released an updated outage map on Friday, July 12, providing more detailed information for Houston area residents still grappling with power outages five days after Hurricane Beryl’s destructive path through the region.
The new color-coded map offers specific estimated restoration dates for different areas:
- July 12
- July 13
- July 14
- July 15
- July 18
- July 19
- Restoration date pending review
This enhancement addresses previous limitations where only some areas had restoration estimates. The map replaces an earlier version that failed during a derecho in May 2024.
CenterPoint’s website now features three distinct maps: one with exact restoration dates, another showing restoration progress, and a third displaying peak outages during Beryl’s impact on Southeast Texas.
Users can find information for their specific address by using the search function in the top left corner of the map.
The company notes that homes shown as energized but still without power may be experiencing a “nested outage.” This occurs when main equipment is restored, but individual properties remain affected due to localized issues like damaged fuse lines, transformers, or trees on service lines.
This improved map aims to provide clearer, more accessible information as Houston continues its recovery from Hurricane Beryl’s aftermath.
