What do you do when someone calls your child a bad name?
That’s what H&M department store did last week. The derogatory label was placed on a Black kid, wearing a Hoodie, on behalf of the store. “Coolest Monkey In The Jungle” that’s the message across the kids chest.
Amidst the outrage, the store removed the image from their website and from social media. They only committed to not marketing the hoodie in North America.
Bishop James Dixon, pastor of The Community Of Faith Church in Houston, is also leader of Good Gang USA. They launched this new hoodie campaign on MLK Day. “Coolest Scholar In The City”. With the support of Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee, Attorney Ricky Anderson, Commissioner Rodney Ellis and a host of leaders, Dixon and kids in the Good Gang are changing the narrative.
