A Texas man is fighting to survive after a gun went off when he and his friends were making a Facebook Live video.
Devyn Holmes is on life support at a Houston-area hospital with a gunshot wound to the head, the result of a clip posted on Facebook Sunday morning where people in a car were handling two handguns. His friend is behind bars, charged with his shooting.
“You’re making me nervous,” Holmes says in the Facebook Live, captured outside a Valero gas station on Almeda and Southmore in Houston.
“It ain’t got no clip, bud,” the man in the backseat utters in the video.
“Hey, where you from again…?”
Seconds later, Cassandra Nickcole Damper fires a shot.
The gunshot hit Holmes in the head.
Police said both passengers immediately got out of the vehicle. Officers arrived about five minutes later.
Now Holmes’ family is asking for prayers.
“To me, he’s my backbone,” said Kendric Holmes, Devyn’s brother. “To his whole family, whenever problems go down, he’ll be right there to pick us all up.”
Devyn is fighting for his life at Ben Taub Hospital.
Cassandra Damper, the 25-year-old woman in the car, was arrested after police said that she tampered with evidence when she tried to wipe gun residue from her hands.
The other man in the car has not been charged, though police say that the case is being referred to a grand jury.
