The first day of school for students in the Spring Independent School District will be Thursday, Aug. 17, and students are required by state law to have their immunizations up-to-date before they start school.
To help parents and students meet those requirements, the district will host the Care Van from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 5 at Dekaney High School, 22351 Imperial Valley. Vaccinations will be free to those who participate, and parents are asked to bring their child’s immunization records.
“Immunizations are an important part of public health, and Texas law requires students to be immunized against certain vaccine-preventable diseases prior to attending school,” said Jeanne Parker, director of nursing and health services.”
