Students and staff at Garcia Middle School recently celebrated the school’s diverse population by holding its first-ever Cultural Day. Students and staff dressed in festive attire from their native countries and participated in a parade around the track during their PE classes.

The event was sponsored by the school’s International Club, which was formed this year to celebrate and respect campus diversity and increase multicultural awareness. Staff sponsors of the club include Shweta Khade and Seema Vohra.

Fort Bend ISD, its campuses and its students are routinely recognized for exemplary achievements by organizations such as The National Merit Scholars Program, the National Association of Music Merchants, Children at Risk, The Washington Post’s Top High Schools in the national rankings, U.S. News & World Report’s Best High Schools in the nation and the United States Presidential Scholars Program. For specific details about these honors, visit the Fort Bend ISD News Center or the District’s weekly newsletter, ExPress.
