Houston Native, Super Bowl Champion and Dancing With Stars Winner, Donald Driver, Partners with Conn’s HomePlus and LG to Inspire Kids; Conn’s Donates Furniture to School
As Houston moves further away from the excitement of hosting Super Bowl LI, The Woodlands-based Conn’s HomePlus wants to make sure local kids understand how to be super every day. Houston native Donald Driver, who helped the Green Bay Packers win Super Bowl XLV, came home to deliver that message to more than 400 elementary school students at Osborne Elementary.
The event, coined “A Super Reminder for Kids: Be Super Every Day In Every Way,” was presented by Conn’s HomePlus and LG and included Driver running select students through football catching skills. The Dancing With The Stars winner then lead the kids through a special touchdown dance called “The Conn’s Conga.”
Driver is a great role model. After growing up homeless at times, he discovered the power of both sports and education at Milby High School on Houston’s east side. He then attended Alcorn State University before being drafted by the Packers in 1999. Since retiring from the NFL, he has continued his charity work and authored a series of children’s books.
Conn’s HomePlus donated furniture to Osborne’s library to serve as a book reading nook as part of the festivities.
