The Big3 brings its exciting brand of hoops to the Toyota Center on Friday, June 22 at 5:30 p.m. Simply stated the Big3 is the premier half-court, 3-on-3 basketball league. It features many of the most popular and skilled former NBA players of all time. In its second season, it’s the brainchild of superstar Ice Cube and entertainment executive Jeff Kwatinetz.
The Big3 combines highly competitive, physical, fast basketball and incredible fan experiences. Comprised of eight teams, the league played in t10 different US cities throughout the 2017 inaugural season. The Big3commissioner is Houston Rocket Hall of Famer Clyde Drexler.
Founder Ice Cube discussed the state of the Big3 as they prepare for season two.
“We had a great off-season. We’ve made some changes, but the league has gotten better. Our players we feel are readier and in shape and mentally ready for season two,” Cube said. “Season one was a surprise for everybody and at this time last year, the league was in a much different position. We were still trying to convince some of our buildings and our venues that they should host the Big3. This year it’s totally different. Venues are asking us to come which is a step in the right direction.”
“We’re proud to partner with Adidas,” he said. “We feel like Adidas does a lot for the Big3when it comes to credibility and associating ourselves with the right brands. What’s cool about this partnership and our season this year is that we are going to do a lot of cool activities in these cities that we are coming up to. When we started Big3, our dream was to not only come to these cities and play basketball on the court, but to make an impact on the community and we are going to be able to do that this year. “
