Compassionate Houston presents Houston Compassion Fest, opening rally and film festival for Houston Compassion Week, and Earth Day celebration on April 22 from 10am to 4 pm at the new Levy Park, 3801 Eastside St. (77098).
Kick-off rally is a day full of family friendly fun featuring live performances, food vendors, games, a food-drive labyrinth, and over 50 local compassionate organizations. Film festival screenings provided by Houston area students.
Houston Compassion Week is a week-long celebration features over 50 compassionate leaders, teachers, faith communities and non-profit organization joining together to connect and nurture Houston’s compassionate culture. Projects include hands-on workshops include meditation, empathy, dance. Informational workshops on human trafficking, college assistance for children of incarcerated parents, compassion in the health care field, vegan cooking, new Peace Officer training methods. Service opportunities include brown bag preparations, bicycle repair for the less fortunate, neighborhood clean-up, stray animal care.
