Every student at Deloras E. Thompson Elementary School will receive a free book during the Book-It Forward Literacy Day event hosted by Thompson and Texas A&M University students from 9 to 10 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 16. During the event, Texas A&M student volunteers will read to all grade levels, focus on literacy awareness, promote college readiness and hand out books.

Thousands of books have been donated by Texas A&M students, faculty and staff to ensure that every student receives a book of his or her own to take home. Extra books will be used to stock Thompson’s Little Free Library, which is located outside the school for the community to easily access, even during holidays and summer break.
