Veterans Day lunch at City Centre to honor 200 vets

WHAT:

In recognition of Veterans Day, The Dignity Memorial® network of 17 funeral, cremation and cemetery service providers in Houston and Brookdale Senior Living Inc. will host a luncheon for 400 people at the Norris Conference Center at City Centre. Invitations were sent to approximately 200 veterans. Many expected to attend are World War II veterans, including Owen Johnson, a flight crewman on a B17 Liberator who was captured by the Germans after his plane went down in the Black Sea. He remained a prisoner of war in Germany until the end of World War 11.

WHO:

The keynote speaker will be Rear Admiral Thomas E. Ishee, Deputy Commander, Joint Functional Component Command for Global Strike. Students from Houston’s acclaimed High School for the Performing and Visual Arts will perform.
Dignity Memorial invited veterans who are members of LIFT™, a social support program that helps widows and widowers adjust to the loss of their spouses. Veterans who reside at Brookdale’s 24 senior living communities in the Houston area were also invited. All of the veterans will be honored during the luncheon.

Media is invited to attend and will be able to interview Mr. Johnson and other veterans at the event.
