One of the most popular songs by The Last Poets (the revolutionary group of the 1960s and beyond), “The White Man’s Got a God Complex,” should be in heavy rotation these days. Because that god complex is showing its “bee-hine” left and right.

Barbers Hill Hair Policing

I mean, how else can you describe an ISD superintendent and his minions who feel duty-bound to break the law (CROWN Act) and police the hair of an 18-yr-old Black high school student? And you know it’s the god complex at work because the rule young bruhman (Darryl George) is said to be breaking, he’s not even breaking. Still, Greg Poole, the superintendent in question, felt it was his right, nay, his divine obligation, to make a federal case out of his demand that George “comply” or rather “submit” to the will of this wanna-be deity. Poole even paid for a full-page ad in the Houston Chronicle to bully this young brother.

But the madness doesn’t stop there.

Native American History Killed by Colonizers

What could be worse than a colonizing, invading people coming to your land, and after you literally save their lives time and again, with food for their starving bodies and life skills training for their lacking intellect and deficient abilities, they repay you with genocidal violence, germ warfare (literally), renigged treaties, land theft, forced placement in concentration camps called reservations, and the kidnapping of thousands of your children for the specific purpose of cutting them off from their culture and europeanizing them? Leave it to the great state of Texas to colonize these humans indigenous to this land all over again – in 2024.

As reported by Texas Monthly, a new curriculum about Indigenous History that was ready for Texas public schools after four years of preparation and created in collaboration with members of 14 Native American nations (as well as other educators and professors), was squashed, killed, “Columbused” by some dude exercising his god complex. The prepared but now “outlawed” curriculum would halt teachers from “talk[ing] about Indigenous groups in the past tense,” presenting them rather as what they are – living, breathing cultures. Then, came someone frontin’ like he’s Jehovah (State Board of Education Chairman Aaron Kinsey—newly appointed by Governor Greg Abbott) to pull the curriculum from the agenda in the 11th hour.

How allergic to truth do you have to be to spearhead the re-placing of Indigenous people and their culture back on the reservation by blocking their story from being told in our schools?

NYT’s ‘Kelce Cut’ Comment

I’m assuming that when operating with a god complex, these false idols tend to believe everything their evil eyes can see was, is, and will always be theirs. Their faux-god logic must wire their brains to claim all things as their own creation (i.e. the Bo Derek and Kim Kardashian braids). The latest iteration of this foolishness involves Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, a great player who has come to the attention of hundreds of thousands of non-football fans because of who he’s dating. If you don’t know, Kelce is one of the many white boys across the country who rocks a fade – literally the Blackest of all hairstyles. I’m sure, God’s firstborn human beings on the continent of Africa spent their Saturdays (even before Saturdays were Saturdays) heading to the barbershop to get their fades tightened up. The fade is literally older than the migration of African people outside of the continent (a move that gave birth to all other peoples). In other words, bruhs were rocking fades even before white people existed.

So, “why-come” New York Times writer Alyson Krueger wrote a piece for her globally-revered publication focusing on the “Travis Kelce Cut,” and the rush of men across the country seeking that same doo? And as you’ve probably surmised, Krueger never, ever mentions the fade’s origins or the 50-leven-million Black barbers from sea to shining sea, and across the globe, who have been hooking up fades for eons.

Sure, colonize the color and culture of Jesus and his Hebrew people to match your complexion rather than reflect how they’re described in scripture, “with skin the color of burnt brass” (Black) and “hair like lamb’s wool” (dreads). Claim ancient Egypt as your lily-white creation, why don’t you, even though Kemet’s pyramid builders said their ancestors came from Nubia, or modern-day Sudan (home of literally the tallest and darkest people on Planet Earth). And while you’re at it, front like rock & roll just magically appeared with Elvis even though Elvis himself readily admitted where he got his flow from. All that “Columbusing” is bad enough. But when you push the fade as your own, you’ve taken your god complex to “a whole-nutha” level.
