Five Houston area schools rank among the Top 10 in the latest Texas Girls Coaches Association Class 6A state softball poll.
Katy, a state champion in 2015, comes in at No. 3 with a 21-3 ledger. Right behind the Tigers in positions four through seven are Atascocita (14-1), Aldine MacArthur (21-1), Kingwood (18-3) and Spring High School (20-2).
Alvin (16-6) and Dickinson (21-3-1) occupy spots 13 and 14 in the Top 25 poll while former state champion Deer Park (15-3) is at No. 22.
Deer Park defeated Pasadena Dobie 11-2 recently in a showdown of traditional playoff teams with a combined five state championships.
Keller (15-4-1) is ranked No. 23 after winning the 6A state title in 2016. Unbeaten Pflugerville Hendrickson (21-0) is ranked No. 1 in the TGCA state poll.
Richmond Foster (17-2) is ranked No. 2 in the latest Class 5A state poll after tumbling from the top slot following a 1-0 loss to Angleton. Willis (22-1) and Barbers Hill (19-3) are also in the Top 10 at No. 4 and No. 8, respectively.
Angleton (17-3) comes in at No. 11 in the 5A poll while Santa Fe (16-3) is No. 13 and Crosby (16-3) is ranked No. 15.
Bellville (15-5) and Sweeny (19-5) are ranked No. 22 and No. 23 in the state Class 4A poll.
