GROW4CARE recently hosted a CARE Alliance Solutions, Services and Volunteer Expo that gathered over 30 community solutions/service providers/non-profits setting up tents and sharing their information and volunteer needs. The event also held workshops and overview classes throughout the day pertaining to different community issues/needs. Topics included perinatal care, security, spirituality, healthy foods growing, security, youth development and more.
“I’ve heard about urban gardening, and have some family members who do serious food growing in their cities,” said Sarah Aikens, who attended the April 13 event. “I want to get involved, and I got to learn some really good steps on how to get involved today.”
“The information shared on spirituality and youth development gave me and my wife a lot to think about and chew on,” said Jeremy Boykins. “We left excited, challenged and ready to get connected.”
That event, and others carried out by the organization, reflect GROW4CARE’s desire to be the hub of the many bridges for individual, family, business, etc. connectivity.
“A connected community is a strong community. Regardless of who you are, what you do, where you work, lounge, play or pray, everyone has a need for connectivity. The individual to opportunity, the family to support, the community to assistance, the business to contracts, the non-profit to investments, the politician to his/her constituents, the government office to its citizens or the corporation to its customers/clients, we all have a need, regardless of where we are within the circle of community, to connect,” shared Mwandani.
