For the mobility-challenged, it appears help has arrived.
Tootl Transport, a non-emergency medical transportation (NEMT) service franchise that provides safe, wheelchair-accessible rides for anyone with mobility and cognitive challenges, is now open for business in the Houston area.
With a mission of improving lives through safe and reliable transportation for people of all abilities and a motto of “We accept your challenge,” the new Tootl Transport franchise solves the transportation challenges of multiple populations. This includes seniors, wheelchair users or anyone with temporary to chronic mobility or cognitive challenges who require specially-equipped vehicles and professionally trained drivers to get them safely to their destinations.
Tootl of Houston is a family-run business, owned by Ken Bardlette and his wife Delilah, with help from their son, Deantae. The idea of owning their own franchise business emerged as the Bardlettes envisioned their family’s future a decade ahead.
However, they wanted to make sure the franchise opportunity they chose to invest in would not only have growth potential but also be the right fit for their family values. After exploring various franchise brands, they felt aligned with Tootlโs mission and core values, as well as the ability to make a positive community impact.
Committed to uplifting their community, the Bardlettes serve as mentors, guiding individuals in underserved areas toward personal and professional success and growth.
“With Tootl, we’re able to reach underserved members of our community who often don’t receive the care they deserve,” said Ken. “We’re able to provide people in need with a sense of independence by reliably transporting them to essential destinations, empowering them to live more fulfilling lives.”
Tootl Transport of Houston will serve the greater Houston area, including the 610 Loop.
Ken noted that Tootl takes additional steps such as reminder calls, written correspondence, and moving at a comfortable pace, all of which put passengers โ and their loved ones โ at ease.
“Oftentimes, itโs families or friends who book the rides on behalf of others in their lives who have mobility or cognitive issues,” he said. “They want to be at ease knowing their loved ones will be transported safely to their medical appointments or other destinations. They know having reliable, safe transportation is a basic right for anyone.”
After operating successfully in the Chicago area since 2012, Tootl Transport began offering franchises in 2021 to introduce the service to communities across the country. The opening of the Houston location marks the next step in the brandโs continued national expansion through franchising.
