Ted Irving, Magnet Coordinator for Jack Yates School of Communications, has been nominated for a Lone Star Emmy Award for his story about Houston Tap Dance artist Alde Lewis.
Irving, who also oversees the JROTC program at Yates, shot and edited the project himself.
“I produced the story for my side work in journalism production after working with the Houston Press and their How Houston Cooks Series. It inspired me to produce my own content telling stories with the various techniques I’ve acquired from over the years,” Irving said.
The Lone Star Emmy’s represents the most experienced and talented television professionals from all disciplines of the industry and from all of Texas’ 19 television markets.
Irving is honored for the nomination.
“The last time I was nominated was when I was a media instructor with Hightower High School’s Digital Media Academy. It was a program nomination for our work entitled, “Student Minutes,” a take on 60 Minutes. The subject matter was breast cancer,” he said.
