After a performance at the Apollo Theater last night (April 20), Roberta Flack was reportedly rushed to the hospital. The 81-year-old singer was going to be honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Jazz Foundation of America but left when she began to feel ill.
“She suffered a stroke a few years ago,” her rep told People. “She didn’t feel well so it was best to take her to the hospital.”
Flack complained of feeling very dizzy, and due to her medical history 911 was dialed immediately. She was taken to Harlem Hospital.
Her rep also told TMZ that she was being kept overnight for observation to ensure her symptoms were not related to her previous stroke.
