Career and Recovery Resources, Inc. (CRR), a nonprofit United Way agency that helps individuals identify and overcome barriers to employment, recently recognized Harris County Judge Ed and Mrs. Gwen Emmett along with Mrs. Philamena and Mr. Arthur Baird at the 22nd Annual Barrier Breaker Awards Luncheon. Held at the Hyatt Regency Houston, the event was co-chaired by Mr. Doug and Mrs. Winell Herron. Star clients of CRR, including Shawn Granger, Anna Vasquez, Cathy Mitchell and Jessica Y who have broken through barriers were honored. Moreover, CRR’s Star Company, HEB, was celebrated as an outstanding company leader in the community. Other attendees included CRR CEO Dr. Vernus Swisher, Dr. Stephen Klineberg, Art Contreras, Councilmember Martha Castex-Tatum, Algenita Scott Davis, Pastor Manson Johnson, Spencer Tillman, Cynthia Cisneros and many more.
