The Greater Houston Black Chamber hosted its 23rd Annual Pinnacle Awards, the most prestigious award bestowed upon Houston’s most successful and community-oriented Black entrepreneurs. Amid Astros Game 7 energy outside, inside the venue—the Marriot Marquis—excitement was generated by Pinnacle Award finalists’ and other honorees’ tales of perseverance and service. On the national level, Tom Joyner Jr. accepted the Lifetime Achievement Award on behalf of his father. Attendees included GHBC president Courtney Johnson Rose and VP Jackie Hall, event chairs Shawn Taylor, Jevaughn Sterling, Sherifat Lawal Price and Ellis Hubbard II, Tamar Davis (host), Miss TSU Tramauni Brock, Congressman Al Green, and scores of business owners and supporters including Carlecia Wright, Jacqueline Camphor, Sadiyah Evangelista, Marlon Mitchell, Orgena Keener, Carl McGowan, Kelley Taylor, Chris Williams, Crystal Hadnott and many more.
