SHAPE Community Center recently hosted its 38th Annual Pan African Cultural Festival in recognition of African Liberation Day. The family-friendly event was held in Our Park and offered food, vendors, performers, spoken word, face painting, a petting zoo and more. Proceeds benefit the SHAPE Summer Youth Enrichment Program and the SHAPE-sponsored Freedom Tour which takes youth on a tour of historic Civil Rights Movement sites. SHAPE director Deloyd Parker was on hand to welcome countless attendees including Elma Jackson-Green, Lovie Evans, Gene Pack, Dewayne Evans, LaShondra Oliver, Karson Oliver, Norma Goodrich, Tracy Beavers, Munirah Olabisi, Baba Ifalade, Tamika Woods, San Antonio’s Organization of African Unity, and several others.
