The iconic Dr. Thomas F. Freeman recently celebrated his 100th birthday in grand fashion. Several individual organizations and communities honored the legendary pastor and TSU Debate Team coach, including his current and former students, Mt. Horem Baptist Church members, TSU family and friends. One of the biggest celebrations took place in TSU’s Sterling Student Life Center. Dignitaries near and far gathered to pay tribute to Dr. Freeman for the many ways he impacted their personal lives and the lives of so many others. Attendees at the various gatherings included Clarice Freeman, Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee, County Commissioner Rodney Ellis, Mayor Sylvester Turner, Dr. Alvia Wardlaw, Dr. Gloria Batiste-Roberts, Melinda Spaulding, Jonathan Martin, Deshara Goss, Marc Newsome, Andrea Shelton, Angela Daniel, TSU Debate Team members past and present and countless others.
